Marisol

With her wooden figure groups and sharp sense of humour, Marisol conquered the art world, then almost overnight vanished from art history. Behind her appealing, humorous work lies a pointed message about the role of women, social norms and the way we treat the climate, and for the first time in Europe her oeuvre is shown on a large scale with more than seventy international loans.

The museum organised her first solo exhibition and soon acquired The Car, a public favourite, so the pop art star now returns to Rotterdam. The show is a collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Kunsthaus Zürich and Museum der Moderne Salzburg, made possible by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum.
