Het Scheepvaartmuseum (National Maritime Museum)

The museum is housed in a former naval storehouse, designed by Daniël Stalpaert and constructed in 1656. After an extensive renovation, it reopened on 2 October 2011. Inside, the collection covers maritime history, with artefacts linked to shipping and sailing.

You will find paintings, scale models, weapons and world maps. The paintings depict Dutch naval officers such as Michiel de Ruyter and historical sea battles, while the maps include works by Willem and Joan Blaeu. A VR experience takes you back to the Golden Age, and a replica of the Amsterdam, built in 1985–1990, is moored outside.
