About the Exhibition: Dromen in hout. Het verhaal van de Zaanse Schans
When Zaan wooden houses and mills were threatened by modern factories and housing estates, concerned locals launched a unique rescue programme. Out of this urgency grew a large-scale effort to keep Zaan history visible, resulting in the Zaanse Schans.
Visitors discover why this small neighbourhood attracts people from all over the world and how it became a symbol of the real Netherlands.
