Herman Kruyder. Expressionist van de ziel — Singer Laren
Curatorial Note
About the Exhibition: Herman Kruyder. Expressionist van de ziel
It is the first monographic presentation of Kruyder's work in thirty years, partly based on the Kruyder collection of Singer Laren and accompanied by a new monograph. In the past he was wrongly labelled a mad genius, loner and childlike talent.
Based on new art-historical research, guest curator Caroline Roodenburg-Schadd puts his artistic development at the centre. His history of illness is used only where needed and factually to explain influences, avoiding over-interpretation and romanticised images.
