About the Exhibition: OERBOER – Van jachtkamp naar boerennederzetting
The exhibition follows the first farmers who settled in Friesland, moving from hunting and gathering to a fixed home and a life based on agriculture. Their choices about crops, clearing primeval forest and working the land laid the foundation for a landscape that is still recognisable today.
Visitors see finds, tools and reconstructions, many of them Frisian highlights never shown before. You learn how these farmers built houses of wood and clay, kept animals, and let the sun, moon and stars guide the rhythm of sowing, harvesting and storing.
