Humanitarian law of war is a worldwide system of agreements that has protected victims of conflict for centuries. Hugo de Groot, the best-known resident of Slot Loevestein, made an important contribution with his book De Iure Belli ac Pacis.

You follow how this law came about, what it does and why it is under pressure, through people, milestones and moral choices. The story runs from Hugo de Groot and the Battle of Solferino to protests against the Vietnam War and the founding of Doctors Without Borders.
