About the Exhibition: Avercamp terug in Kampen: de 17e eeuw door de ogen van Hendrick en Barent
Hendrick Avercamp and his nephew Barent Avercamp both grew up and worked in Kampen. Their famous winter scenes are scattered around the world, and a selection of about 15 paintings and 50 drawings now returns for the first time to where they were made.
The works are shown right beside the IJssel, amid the Kampen heritage that appears in them. Besides the fun on the ice, you see the fishermen, farmers and merchants who toiled by the water, and the topography still visible today.
