About the Exhibition: Charley Toorop en Edgar Fernhout – Kunstenaars in Bergen
The museum holds a select collection of works by the two artists, and the show follows their development, from Charley Toorop's early colourful paintings to her last self-portrait, and from Edgar Fernhout's refined realism to his move into abstraction.
Each went their own way while Bergen stayed a source of inspiration. The new room connects to the display on the Bergen School, the first expressionists of the Netherlands, where more works by Toorop can be seen.
