About the Exhibition: Lijnen door de tijd. Jeroen Hermkens en zijn inspiratiebronnen
Hermkens, known for his expressive cityscapes, shows his own work alongside pieces from his private collection by artists dear to him, such as Piranesi, Bonnard, Kokoschka, Corinth and Picasso. Paintings, lithographs, drawings and sculptures run across periods and movements.
His work starts from drawing from observation with reed pen and Indian ink, following great expressionists. A stay in Paris, where he learned painting directly with tusche on the lithographic stone, was a major influence.
