Pieke Dassen: Een Iconische Maastrichtenaar

Dassen became known for his Poesjenellenkelder in the Dinghuis, where handmade puppets and sets brought humorous, often political satire. He also captured the Maastricht carnival, turning café De Pieter every year into a colourful carnival chapel, and was known nationally as August in De film van Ome Willem.

A careful selection of his work is on show, including his palette, tools, puppets and a self-portrait with his grey beard, along with pieces that bring Maastricht's carnival to life. Pieke still lives on in the city's streets as a giant puppet carried in processions.
