About the Exhibition: Slag op de Zuiderzee
The exhibition offers a treasure trove of stories in short videos, documentaries, podcasts and tales, covering the iconoclasm, the Spanish terror that followed, the battle itself and the echoes of the long struggle for independence. Archivist Jan de Bruin explains new archive research, and you can hear spoken letter fragments by Margaretha de Parma and a mocking song about the defeated Admiral Bossu.
A short report also shows current archaeological research on the shipwrecks in the Markermeer. This accessible, scientifically grounded online experience lets you explore this chapter of the past from any location.
