About the Exhibition: Amorfortia
The exhibition starts with a large multimedia city model showing how Amersfoort grew from a small settlement into today's city. Objects, artworks and personal stories bring the past close, from an urn thousands of years old to paintings by Mathias and Alida Withoos and the city keys made for a visit by Napoleon.
Lesser-known stories also have a place, about beer brewers, migration, faith, trade and the influence of the colonial past. Behind them lie larger themes: identity, community, power, enterprise and change.
