About the Exhibition: Bárbara Wagner & Benjamin de Burca – Future of Yesterday
The video focuses on Straight Edge, a clean counterculture within post-hardcore punk that emerged on the American East Coast. It is placed in dialogue with other underground music scenes, including the brega scene of Recife in the early work Estás vendo coisas / You are seeing things.
The artists work collaboratively: the communities portrayed are co-makers who help shape the script, set, music, choreography and staging. Visitors see how a music subculture is portrayed from within.
