About the Exhibition: WILHELMUS – Valerius, Veere en het Volkslied
Adriaen Valerius was a Zeeland writer and poet, notary and town magistrate in Veere, famous for his book Neder-landsche Gedenck-clanck. It tells of the war with Spain, and one of its songs became world famous: the Wilhelmus, the Dutch national anthem.
The exhibition is held in the town hall, Valerius's former workplace, and covers his life, his work and the Wilhelmus. Visitors can both look and listen at the place where he once wrote.
