De Letse Ploeg

The Tukums Museum holds one of the most important collections of Latvian art from the first half of the twentieth century. Its artists were rural pioneers who broke with traditional academic painting, and their colour and expressive style show clear parallels with De Groninger Ploeg, partly under the influence of German expressionism and Die Brücke.

Works from the depot of the Veenkoloniaal Museum travel to Tukums, while a selection of Latvian works comes to Veendam. The show also crowns years of cooperation between the museum director and museums in Latvia.
