About the Exhibition: Stadsgeschiedenis van Harderwijk
In Pension Harderwijk, guests each represent a special period of the city's past. A Ship's Boy stands for the Hanseatic era, the Mint Master for the Guelders Mint, the Student for the university past and the African soldier for the Colonial Depot.
These stories are about Harderwijk but also representative of Dutch history, from the Hanseatic League and the Reformation to the colonial past and the Cold War. Each character has a bronze statue in the historic centre, on the very spot where the history happened.
