Vertrouwde Plekken, Verrassend Verbeeld – Peter van de Mheen

With sharp lines, strong planes and bright colours, Van de Mheen reduces buildings and cityscapes to their essence. He calls his style abstract realism, leaving out details so that line, colour and composition take centre stage.

He photographs buildings on walks and bike rides, develops a drawing at home, transfers it to a large canvas and paints in acrylic, always listening to music. The result is a recognisable body of work in which familiar places look new.
