De Elf Steden

The museum revives a tradition: in the 17th and especially the 18th century, draughtsmen travelled through Friesland to record towns, villages, streets and important buildings. Before photography, this is how the urban landscape was captured.

Wilschut shows a contemporary view of the 13 Frisian cities. He often photographs from above, and from that vantage point he pays particular attention to places of transformation.
