About the Exhibition: Open Depot
Through shipwrecks off the Reede of Texel, hundreds of ships, mostly merchant vessels, ended up on the seabed in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. For centuries they lay buried under the sand, until a wreck sometimes washes free and divers find ship parts, personal belongings and cargo.
In the Open Depot you see a selection of the many thousands of objects recovered from the seabed near Texel.
