About the Exhibition: Schip in zicht

The largest maritime trade hub of the 17th century lay near Texel. A room-filling model with some 160 meticulously recreated ships gives an impressive picture of the roadstead around 1660.

Using large touchscreens and digital binoculars, visitors can dive into the model, from the long voyages of the VOC ships to the greatest battles of the war fleet. They discover the characteristics of the ships, their routes, personal stories and important events.
