About the Exhibition: Palmhoutwrak
In 2014 divers found the most spectacular objects in the Palmhoutwrak, with a fully intact silk gown as the absolute highlight. This 17th-century textile is unique for an underwater find, and scientists call the gown the Night Watch of textiles.
The finds are divided into four themes: wealth, worldly, intimate and stylish. You see, among other things, a book binding with the arms of the Stuarts, a gilded silver showpiece goblet, an oriental carpet, a kaftan, a toilet set and silk stockings, and an animation brings a second gown, probably a wedding dress, back to life.
