About the Exhibition: Verweven Verleden
Personal video portraits, from Peggy Bouva, a descendant of an enslaved family, to mayor Nanning Mol, each offer their own perspective. Together with Sidney Breidel, Glenda van Duivenvoorde, Péris Conrad, Jochem Sprenger and Delice Abad, they show that this past is woven into the city we live in.
The emancipation space is the starting point, with a flag by artist Umar Rashid about the West India Company and insights into Dordrecht's colonial history. Visitors can also explore whether their own family is connected to the colonial past.
